Accountant

DESCRIPTION: Full-time position responsible for the financial reporting and analysis related to a variety of existing Authority programs. Provides financial and technical support to the Finance Department. Investment and cash management activities, receivables, expenses, performance measures, assist in the development of monthly and annual financial statements. Act as servicing agent between program and accounting departments.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful applicant will have an Accounting Degree from an accredited college or equivalent combination of education/experience;  education/experience in finance, bonds, investments and financial accounting preferable; excellent analytical and problem solving skills; ability to work cooperatively on existing and new housing programs; excellent oral and written skills; current computer/technological skills.

LOCATION: Pierre, SD

Mortgage Purchase Officer

DESCRIPTION: Reviews residential real estate loan packages assuring all loans meet compliance with applicable state and federal regulations as they relate to single family mortgages. Develops and conducts effective training sessions for lenders.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidate must have knowledge of loan documentation requirements; possess analytical skills; an assertive attitude towards relationship building; ability to speak publicly; attention to detail; experience working with a variety of clients; the knowledge to interpret federal and state regulations; to work cooperatively with others; and the ability to communicate concisely, both orally and in writing. A background in mortgage lending, secondary markets and credit administration is required. Successful applicant must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

HERO State Coordinator

DESCRIPTION: This position solicits funding for and oversees the operation of a non-profit organization – the Homeownership Education Resource Organization (HERO), an affiliate of South Dakota Housing Development Authority. HERO promotes consistency and ensures quality in the delivery of homeownership and rental education in South Dakota.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Successful candidate will serve as a representative with authority to submit grant applications to federal agencies on behalf of HERO; coordinate standardized, statewide homeownership and rental education programs; develop ongoing relationships with education partners; provide training opportunities and technical assistance to agencies/members; monitor the quality of services provided; and develop a budget and recommended partner funding allocations to the HERO Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidate must have relevant experience in the development of grant applications; ability to speak publicly; attention to detail, time management and deadlines; experience working with a variety of clients; the knowledge to interpret federal and state regulations; to work cooperatively with others; and the ability to communicate concisely, both orally and in writing. Plumbing/HVAC Supervisor

DESCRIPTION: Primarily responsible for training and supervising inmates on both plumbing and heating functions of the Governor’s Houses in South Dakota. The Governor’s House Program is a program funded by SDHDA, in which prison inmates at the Mike Durfee State Prison build low-cost, low-maintenance, energy efficient homes to income qualified individuals and families.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidate must possess excellent customer service and plumbing and HVAC experience; experience working with a variety of clients; understand basic math functions and calculations; the ability to lift and carry heavy objects; knowledge of building codes and on-the-job safety; and the ability to communicate professionally.  Successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED and minimum three years of experience in the plumbing and HVAC field which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform duties. Being a licensed plumber or HVAC technician is not necessary but helpful.  Candidate would be working under a licensed contractor and may be eligible to gain apprenticeship hours while performing duties.

LOCATION: Springfield, SD

CDL Truck Driver

DESCRIPTION: Primarily responsible for driving a company truck and assisting with the delivery and installation of Governor’s Houses in South Dakota. The Governor’s House Program is a program funded by SDHDA, in which prison inmates at the Mike Durfee State Prison build low-cost, low-maintenance, energy efficient homes to income qualified individuals and families.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidate must possess excellent customer service and trade skills; experience working with a variety of clients; basic knowledge of State and Federal DOT vehicle requirements, rules, and regulations; experience with hydraulic jacks, metal beams and other heavy equipment; and the ability to communicate professionally.  Home transport experience a plus.  Successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED or a combination of three years of related education and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Must have good driving record and Class A CDL.

LOCATION: Statewide, SD (Must be able to travel to Springfield to retrieve house and deliver within the state)

The ability to fix sheetrock cracks, siding, shingles and alignment of doors a plus.  Successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED or a combination of three years of related education and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LOCATION: Statewide, SD (travel within the state required)
