Temporary Halt in Residential Evictions
Last week, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) published an Order to temporarily halt evictions in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19. This Order was published September 4th, 2020 in the Federal Register.
This Order is in effect until December 31st, 2020, unless further extended or modified. Unlike the previous moratorium that had been issued under the CARES Act and expired on July 24th, 2020, this Order applies to ALL rental housing, regardless of how the housing was funded and regardless of any federal programs in place at the property. SDHDA has condensed the Tenant Declaration down to a one-page form (below) that you are welcome use for these situations. SDHDA encourages you to post the Legal Services Notice (What Renters Need to Know…) in a prominent place at your properties, and to make the Declaration forms available to all tenants. If you have any questions, please contact your Housing Management Officer.
